The Lords

As our modernised rules state, "No ruler rules alone" the princes were no exception to this rule. As they would gladly raise up some mortals they trusted, or otherwise indoctrinated to join them as their lessers. Mortals raised up in this way would possess abilities beyond their mortal limits. But would need to loyally serve their prince lest they'd be stripped of their powers. The function a lord has in a particular princes' domain seems to have differed drastically, some princes would want their lords to serve as unwaveringly loyal servants to keep the people below them in check. While others use their lords as the protectors of their realm, sworn to protect the people rather than suppress them.

A fascinating observation, however, is that princes would often bestow gifts upon those who they trusted, or those who served them well. Their lords, for example, often had many gifts from such a prince. And in the modern day, princial champions That being mortals that serve a prince willingly are granted these gifts as well. The most commonly given gift is that of eye colouration. Princes, their lords, their clerics, and their champions each have glowing eyes coloured in a usually unique or exotic way. The actual colouration depending on the actual domain as follows:

  • Death – Black / Dark Green
  • Life – Gold
  • Light – Bright Gold
  • Darkness – Blood Red / Dark Blue
  • Strength – Crimson / Orange
  • Storms – Blue / Grey
  • Madness – Purple
  • Magic – Blurple
  • Nature – Green / Blue
  • Creation – Rainbow / Unknown

It should be noted that a cleric that follows to one of the specific princes has its magic also be coloured similarly. And those who have gifts bestowed upon them, when manifesting it also gain this colouration.

In most cases it has been shown that lords inhibit abilities similar to their patron prince. However, most lords are restricted to a subset of their patron's abilities and do not have much control over any aspect outside of it, this is likely due to the fact that a prince seems to be splitting their share of power whenever they create a lord... Meaning a prince with many lords is likely weaker than those with none.
